It's one of our best go-to restaurants in NY. Our server, Angelica was attentive and personable. For starters, we had the tuna tarter, citrus salad [amazing] and fritto misto. We did family style so we could all enjoy our pasta dishes, shrimp spaghetti and duck ragout [the best]. Our entrees, chicken scarpariello, tilefish and pork chop winter spinach. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. We sweetened up our meal with. the amazing apple cake and chocolate pavlova.

Went for Valentine's dinner. We had been many years ago and decided to return. We enjoyed our meal - the food was really good - and the ambiance was relaxing and not obnoxiously loud. We could actually hear ourselves talk. We were seated near the service bar at first, and asked for a different table and they were very accommodating. The sommelier was really pleasant and the Riesling was as bright as he described. Unfortunately our server was not quite as warm or pleasant as other staff we encountered. Just not welcoming at all. He was efficient, but not friendly and seemed to want to rush us. Yes, we had a 9:30 pm seating, but allowing a few minutes, and not 2-3, to select from the menu would have been nice. The lemon pasta (agnolotti al limone) was so divine and an absolute highlight of my meal. The citrus salad was delicious as well! The caviar tater tots- again - executed perfectly and tasted amazing. Unfortunately-what could've been an absolutely perfect night- and for $600 should've been- missed the mark because of the less than stellar service.

I visited for brunch with a group of six and had no issues with our reservation at the scheduled time. We went during restaurant week, and they offered a great deal: one large entrée and an appetizer for $45, considering the entrées alone start at $35. We enjoyed the sea trout carpaccio, chicken liver mousse, and soup, all of which were delicious. The entree was good as well and the dessert- Get the London fog!! The restaurant was quite packed, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I deducted a star because the tables are very close together. You'll likely find yourself needing to speak to neighboring tables, whether to let someone out or to allow the waitstaff to maneuver through. The pathway is difficult to navigate, and I noticed staff struggling to get by, often having to wait for people to move. I would consider returning, but perhaps not during brunch, as it felt too crowded.

The ambiance of this place was great, the waitress told us there's usually an older crowd but it would be such a fun birthday spot. We did it for restaurant week, a $45 lunch and it was super worth! We got the lobster bisque (delicious), bipp salad (refreshing), squash and tuna tartare (super sour, not a fan) as appetizers. For mains, I had the chicken which had such great flavor but it did become overpowering after awhile. The malfadine was super al dente as well, but I wish there was a bit more flavor. The lemon pasta was great too! We loved our server and she recommended the earl grey affogato which was so unique and delicious. We also got the apple tart which we liked because they had ice cream and a crunchy texture to it as well.

I think this has to be one of my top restaurants in the city. Everything is perfect. Food, service, vibes -- not a single thing out of place. Well, I did get 2 mosquito bites during my dinner, but that isn't their fault and I don't hold it against them. From the moment I got there to when my friend and I left, the service was top notch. It was friendly and of the highest quality, but not pretentious at all. I really appreciated the attention to detail. When my friend and I got a salad to split, they brought it out already split on separate plates -- amazing! Everything was so delicious, fresh, well made and the flavours worked perfectly. My fettucine limone was incredible and the tahini sundae had amazing flavours and textures. So blown away. I had to come here after reading Danny Meyers' book setting the table -- is truly a hospitality and food genius.

Luck was on our side for New Year's Eve, we managed to snag walk-in bar seats at Union Square Cafe to end 2024 on a high note! There was a special NYE menu, and we were able to order a la carte at the bar. To start, we had the Carrot Sformato, and it was excellent. Somewhat surprisingly, the carrot did the heavy lifting here, carrying delicious sweet and savory flavors while the crab served as a nice sidekick. The Spaghetti Fra Diavolo stole the show -- perfect sauce with a nice kick, pasta al dente, and shrimp that were prepared perfectly. The Rabbit Roulade was excellent, but maybe the one dish I thought lacked a little "oomph" compared to the others. Still great though! Dessert was the Chevre Cheesecake, and it was fantastic. The pears went really well with the subtle sweetness of the cake. Such a great meal overall, and there was even live music to add to the festive ambiance! Such a treat to come here and end the year with a delicious meal.

{Overall: 4.5; Food: 4.5} Service: 5; Ambiance: 4.5 Union Square Cafe is one of those NYC institutions that I genuinely love. The food and service are great, and the ambiance is really pleasant. The restaurant has also been very consistent in quality each time I've been there. Their menu changes based on the season, but it's hard to go wrong with any choice. USC has become my go-to for amazing pastas. My favorite dishes from the year round menu are: - Spaghetti Fra Diavolo - Mafaldine all' Anatra - 19th Street Burger (While this only appears on the lunch menu, they sometimes have it available at night upon request!)

my friend invited me to dinner at union square cafe because she received a gift card here and needed to use it. i wasn't sure what to expect but boy was i pleasantly surprised! union square cafe reminds me of an upscale cheesecake factory (which i love by the way). the decor is fun, menu is diverse, and bar is lively. the crowd got noticeably louder as our evening went on. service is friendly and very attentive. we were pleased to see that there was a pre fix option, which is what we opted for. we ordered the lobster and duck for our entrees which were both tasty and tender! i'm not usually a sweets or dessert person, but the apple cake was divine!!!! so happy we got to try this spot out.

Not bad at all. Service was very good and food was decent. Way overpriced but if you don't care about that you should have a very good experience here. We had a pasta with pork ragu, chips and burger. Burger (almost $25!) was excellent although too much bun for my taste. Pasta was ok. Chips were ok. Drinks were great. Bums and another foo-foo drink. IPA was acceptable. I would not balk at returning. It was pretty good. If up to me I would try some other places before returning.

I had a snafu with reservations here and they made it right immediately. We had a party of 6 for lunch including my company's head honcho so I was grateful they could accommodate us. The weather was turning cool but it was still a gorgeous NY day. We sat outside and had a long wait for food but our oyster app was comped. I had the best pasta of my life here, a simple lemon spaghetti with toasted breadcrumbs. Wish I'd taken a picture but I was inhaling it too quickly to snap one. It made up for the wait and I was immediately happy with my choice. All of our food was great and I would definitely come back. Lunch may be a bit tough to pull off if you can't be leisurely, so perhaps come for dinner.
